Once inserted into the skin, PDO mono threads activate collagen synthesis to gradually tighten and rejuvenate the skin. 

The improvement in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles can be seen gradually as the procedure stimulates natural collagen production.  Short PDO threads are not for lifting or treating sagginess.

Mono PDO Threads

Varieties of 

  • Smooth PDO threads, are designed for skin tightening, rejuvenation and natural volume. They primarily treat skin quality and are often used in combination with other cosmetic injectable treatments throughout the face, décolletage and any other area of the body which needs tightening or as a preventive procedure to prevent the face from sagging.

  • A double screw mono thread is formed by intertwining two mono threads together around the inserting needle. It has an effect on giving volume to the sunken areas in the face. A double screw mono thread more than doubles the “volumising” effect. Double Screw mono threads are often used for subtle face lifting and volumising.

  • PDO Threads induce the production of collagen, creating a tightening effect for 6 to 12 months after your procedure. The threads become a support structure for your face, allowing natural collagen production to take place.

  • After receiving a topical anaesthetic, PDO Threads will be inserted using a micro-needle or cannula. The treatment is a very customised procedure, and your healthcare professional will work closely with you in order to achieve optimal results. Also worth noting is that PDO Thread treatments don’t involve any sort of incision, meaning stitches are not required.


  • You will begin to see results in 6 weeks which continue to improve over the next 2 to 6 months as new collagen is produced. Although the PDO Threads will slowly dissolve, you’ll continue to see results for up to 12 months.

  • This will vary based on the number of areas we are addressing at one time. Procedure time can range from 60 to 75 min., including a consultation and numbing time.

  • Pain is a very subjective experience and each individual has a different pain threshold. At Aesthetic Avenue we aim to make you as comfortable as possible during your procedure. We utilise strong topical anaesthetic, ice, stress balls and distraction induced analgesia (vibration device).

  • Unfortunately we cannot treat anyone under the age of 18, even with parental consent.

  • No, you cannot have any cosmetic injectables treatments. It is unethical to perform studies on pregnant or breastfeeding women - as such, there is no evidence to suggest it is safe for your babe. However, we can still undergo a consultation where we tailor a treatment plan for when you’re able to proceed.

  • We accept cash, card, ZipPay and Afterpay. There is a surcharge on some of these payment methods.

  • As a mother of 3, Nurse Raluka is very understanding. You are welcome to bring your child/children or a friend to your appointment. Please notify the clinic if bringing children so extra time can be allocated to your appointment. Please ensure your younger children are self secured in a pram or are at an age where they can sit for the duration of your appointment.
